Stan Governing Body

The Stan Governing Body provides project governance structure in accord with the NumFOCUS requirements and is the liaison between the project and NumFOCUS for all fiscally sponsored initiatives.

The SGB has authority over:

  • ownership and management of trademarks
  • online resources including Stan web page, the stan-dev GitHub organization, Stan Discourse, and social media accounts
  • NumFOCUS funds
  • fundraising in support of Stan
  • authorizing and/or running Stan conferences
  • licensing requirements for contributed code and documentation

SGB Elections

  • Stan Governing Body (SGB) has to have minimum of three persons.
  • One of the SGB members will work as financial liason for NumFOCUS.
  • SGB members are elected for 1-2 years. People will be able to nominate themselves for a term of either 1 or 2 years.
  • Anyone can nominate themselves for the SGB. You do not need to be a Stan developer, just someone interested in the future of the Stan project.
  • Elections are announced in Stan discourse. To nominate yourself please respond to the nominations thread in the elections announcement.
  • The electorate consists of Stan developers. We interpret this broadly and include community developers. The electorate list is the members of ``Stan Development Team'' group in Stan discourse. If you are in doubt or feel you should be eligible to vote, please reach out.
  • The voting is made anonymously using an electronic voting service, such as Helios.
