This PR currently builds with debian/6.18_rc7-1_exp1. Merge only after 6.18 is available from debian repo |

Really cool we got this so early, thanks @SujanaSubr Remember that we will also need to update the README for this; it mentions our branching strategy We'll have to document the new mode:
