Specs Version

Hello,

I am confused about what is the version of the ubjson specs published, documented, etc.

• the website makes no mention about versions
• except that there is a version 2 being considered/drafted
• this project has content about specs 8 and 12
• spec 8 seems outdated, but there are still examples around of spec8 data that current libraries cannot read: see What is in this data? universal-binary-json-java#6

Would it be possible to have some clarification about the specs version and maybe some historical notes to mention backward incompatible versions?

As far as my understanding goes (but I’m no maintainer, nor even contributor, I just wrote an UBJSON lib), specs 12 is the current (and latest) version, and specs 8 was (the only public) previous version.
Not all examples in specs 12 were updated which adds to the confusion

I think specs 12 core is done, but the final details were never smoothed when the project was more or less abandoned, so we get the weird situation we currently are in.
