Possible to get the "s" hotkey to pop up a shell window instead of switching to a full shell? Anyone has it configured in this way?

I-d love to use 's' to have a overlay pop up of a shell window in the CWD.

Being able to configure it to either use the lower half or upper half or left and right half of the yazi window would be perfect.

This would allow to keep kontext and it would also be snappier.

Similar to a fzf popup imho.

This is not possible at the moment, #1951 has requested exactly this, but I'm not sure how to implement it. It may require some level of shell integration and I'd be happy to support it if someone can figure out how it works.

Zellij (terminal multiplexer) has a feature like that and by default it's binded to Alt-f or Alt-e, don't quire remember.

Tmux (another terminal mltiplexer) has a similar feature (but requires configuration) called display-popup

Another option to have a shell "appear" when you need it, could be guake or yakuake which bind to F12 and can drop down from the, but you won't have the current directory in there.

You can also just drop to a shell inside yazi (similar to Ctrl-o in midnight commander) by adding this to your keymap.toml (for me is configured on !
