Feel free so split into multiple issues

It seems for some reason on my Emacs (GNU Emacs 29.4 (build 1, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.24.43, cairo version 1.18.2))

• M-x will still make the vterm buffer move
• It seems not to work as expected for transient, is it?

Additional issue. Using with gptel, the transient menu spazzes out when navigating it (keys '(n f p b))

Basically the width of the window changes based on where the point is. This is worse to me than not having sinister, because it causes small movements with every interaction, instead of having movement only when the transient window opens/ closes.
