Describe your core improvement
It would be great if the energy dashboard supported data for reactive power.
In Poland, some PV users and companies are charged for reactive power.
Reactive power prices are very high. By very high, I mean (data from my last invoice from Tauron Polska Energia)
1 kWh (active power) 1,14 PLN / 0,27 EUR
1 kvarh (reactive power) 2,27787 PLN / 0,54 EUR
There are situations where the user doesn't pay for active power at all (for example, me in summer), but costs of reactive power are very high.
At the moment, the energy dashboard doesn't support reactive power at all.
Adding that can be quite hard :)
I don't have any knowledge about the costs of reactive power in other countries, but in Poland:
Capacitive reactive power -the user have to pay in the same way as with active power. So if meter shows 1 kvarh of capacitive reactive power - user have to pay. So that's easy...
Inductive reactive power - user have to pay for inductive reactive power only if Tg φ is higher than 0,4 (not always 0,4 - that factor is available in contract with power grid operator).
Some of you may know that:
Inductive reactive power is drawn by devices like AC electric motors, coils, fluorescent lamps.
Capacitive reactive power is generated by devices like DC power supplies, phone chargers, computers, LED lamps - almost everything today.
Current limitations
No reactive power support at all
Technical benefits
Energy dashboard would show full energy data. Not only part of it.
