Describe the feature

HI,

I would like to be able to control my smartphone GPS by HA.

Use cases

I don't like to leave my GPS sensor active all the time.
For exemple if I am disconnected from my Home Wifi, I enable the GPS when I arrive and connect to my work Wifi the GPS can be disabled.

Android does not allow third party apps to toggle GPS for security and privacy reasons. The HA app can could only check whether location is enabled and can could prompt the user to open system settings. Implementing this feature is technically impossible without system-level privileges or a rooted device.

As a workaround, you could send an intent from the companion app to another app that requires root, but that would be ugly and unsafe.

You meant could not can correct? The app delivers currently no information about GPS status. That´s why #1836

Yes. The HA app could, in theory, check whether location is enabled, but this is not implemented.
