Heading levels in TOC

Is there a way to select which heading levels will be included in the TOC?
I'm using plain VIm/Gvim.

I found a "solution" or workaround: if I use html heading marks (<h1>, etc.) instead of pure markdown hashtags, the heading is rendered correctly but omitted from the TOC. I'm still curious if there is a more structural solution, like {{TOC:2-4}} or something like that.
