Presumably it's just working really hard, but after five minutes I aborted compilation with this as the final output:

Expected behavior

sorry for the sparse report - happy to take any additional steps to help debug. the module itself isn't massive (~1600 lines), but it's in our massive monorepo so not sure where to start for a minimal repro.

@novaugust doing minimal repros is hard because it is likely caused by other modules. One option is for you to strip down the module to a minimum so the project compiles. And then you have the full copy of the module in a separate file, called foo.exs, and you do mix run foo.exs multiple times, adding the pieces back to the separate file, until you get the slow down again. If it is a possibility, I can sign a NDA and debug the repo.

Thanks, deleting function bodies one-by-one tracked it down to a specific body. I'll massage it into something shareable

@novaugust keep in mind though you will likely need either dependencies or other modules. Unless you can reproduce it with a single elixirc foo.exs.
