Stuck while installing on an older iMac #905

What Happened?
During the install on an older iMac, dual core 64 Intel processor, the system is stuck in the install process. After selecting the Install type, all see is a black screen.
Steps to Reproduce
Attempt to install on an older iMac. 4G memory.
Expected Behavior
should install the OS
