Disable "Enter passphrase for XYZ" question

Another question: is it possible to disable the passphrase question that appears if BORG_PASSCOMMAND etc is not set? Some env variable that makes Borg simply fail if credentials are not provided?

That would be nice to have for frontends, I'm having trouble with Borg hanging if nothing is set.

You could just set BORG_PASSPHRASE="", then it will fail, except when the pw is really empty.

Doesn't BORG_PASSPHRASE take precedence over BORG_PASSCOMMAND and BORG_PASSPHRASE_FD?

I've solved my issue by asserting one of BORG_PASSPHRASE, BORG_PASSCOMMAND or BORG_PASSPHRASE_FD is non-blank before running Borg.

if no key is used (e.g. borg create -e none), neither of these is needed.
not sure: we might even allow empty passphrase.

The issue wasn't with no-key repos - the problem occurred if the user created a normal, protected repo, but forgot to configure one of the BORG_PASS variables. In that scenario, Borg will ask for a password instead of failing, which would cause my frontend to hang indefinitely.

But I've added the sanity check above and it's fine now.

Edit: oh I get it, you're saying no-key-repos would be a problem with the sanity check. Well that's true. I'll have to rethink that.
